I love making simple desserts, but let’s face it, traditional cakes like this sour cream coffee cake need something a little extra to catch the eye of guests.
Delicious as-is, the cake was even more inviting with the addition of lovely spring flowers provided by our fabulous florist Michelle of Studio Fiore.
When decorating a cake with fresh stems, make sure to cut the stem down to the length you want and wrap each one with floral tape. This is primarily for safety reason because not all flowers are safe to come in contact with food. It also helps with pushing the flowers into the cake. I like to use green floral tape, so it matches the original color of the stem.
