Not too long ago, I whipped up a red velvet cake. It was decadent and boasted crimson hues that popped off the plate against the cream cheese frosting. Visually perfect, it’s the ideal dessert for a special occasion.
Fast forward to the present, days out from 2015, I knew I wanted to bring this beauty to my New Year’s Eve party. While the theme relied heavily on the integration of gold, there was a need to add a pop of color.
Introducing the Red Velvet. A beverage comprised of Lindeman’s Framboise Lambic and Rondel GOLD Brut Cava. Framboise Lambic is much like a malty champagne. Not being much of a beer drinker myself, this is a good introductory beer as it has strong notes of raspberry flavoring…to the point that it doesn’t even smell or taste like beer, in my opinion. Expect medium-bodied tart, sweet and tingly acidic beverage. As for the Rondel GOLD Brut Cava, it’s crisp and light. From Spain, this sparkling wine mixes peach and nut flavors with fragrant floral tones and even white pepper to achieve a refreshing finish to every sip.
Mixed together, the two beverages make a delightful cocktail that is sweet, yet just the right amount of tart. Plus, it’s a stunner poured into a tall pilsner glass. Make sure to head to your local Total Wine to pick up these bottles and mix up a drink for yourself.
