A play on a traditional Ginger Fizz, a mixed drink containing ginger syrup, Prosecco and citrus slices, this Mod Ginger Fizz tells no lies. The cocktail tastes as refreshing as it looks because of the sweet and piney essence released by a sprig of rosemary.
As the theme of Rondel GOLD Brut Cava continues, this New Year’s Eve cocktail must-have introduces Beefeater London Dry Gin into the mix. Crisp in flavor, this gin is from the United Kingdom and offers lovely aromas of black pepper, juniper berry and orange peel. The only way I can really describe it is to say it has a “clean” flavor that is simply delightful. And you know it’s good because it won a gold medal for best in class at the 2009 International Wine & Spirits Competition.
For this particular cocktail, make sure not to let it linger too long as the rosemary can become overwhelming following a half hour or so. Of course, you can always discard the rosemary once the drink reaches your ideal level of flavor.
Besides the taste, which is sweet but balanced, my favorite part of the Mod Ginger Fizz may be the bubbles that formulate around the herb’s leaves. The carbonation is so festive – just perfect for New Year’s Eve.
