With Thanksgiving about three weeks out, I am in full holiday mode. Luckily, my gals in crime are gearing up for the festivities as well. Along with our beautiful World Market decor and dining essentials, Destiny of Just Destiny Mag, Brooke of Lurly, Adrianne of Dream Book Design, Tara of Salt and Pepper Moms and Kim of A Night Owl Blog are the perfect ladies to coordinate a lovely Thanksgiving spread.
What many may not know is that World Market carries a ton of edible treats and baking mixes ready for a quick prep. Shown here are pumpkin spice muffins lightly dusted with powdered sugar, a ring of maple pizzelle cookies and crisp ginger snaps. To add interest to the ginger snaps, I tied simple bows with twine I found in the gift wrapping section of World Market. I think it makes the cookies that more inviting.
When selecting Thanksgiving desserts, I focus primarily on warm colors and traditional flavors, like pumpkin and cranberry. Additionally, I like to make a few tall items that can sit lower on a buffet, such as the caramel apples on the wooden bark charger. This balances out smaller treats that are placed atop lovely dessert stands and simple porcelain white serving dishes.
The goal of making the perfect Thanksgiving dessert spread is to keep the eye moving from one dessert to another. There should be a flow of tall and low serving pieces to avoid clutter. And don’t forget to tell your guests what they are eating with a lovely chalkboard menu. Believe me, taking the time to label your food in some way makes hosting a gathering so much easier.
Another thing I love about World Market is their selection of cheese, crackers, meats and condiments. You can easily create an appetizer platter without slaving away in the kitchen. Make sure to pop over to the kitchenware section as well to pick up nifty knives, forks, and other essentials for your guests to use as they snack before dinner time.
Just in case you are wondering, here is what our appetizer and dessert menu looked like:
-Maple-Roasted Delicata Squash with Goat Cheese and Pomegranates atop Table Water Crackers
-Meat and Cheese Platter with Assorted Crackers and Nuts
-Maple Pizzelle Cookies
-Pumpkin Spice Cookies
-Pumpkin Spice Muffins
-Cranberry and Orange Peel Cupcakes
-Pumpkin Spice Meringue Cookies
And the best part? I only had to bake and cook a few things!
So I bet you’re super inspired to make your very own Thanksgiving appetizer and dessert spread. Well, before you do, make sure to visit the following links below for more ideas and pictures from our Thanksgiving with World Market.
