I recently stopped by the Chandler Art Walk following a delicious meal at Floridino’s Pizza & Pasta. Just so you know, if you ever go to Flordino’s you must order their pizza muffins. Freshly baked from the oven, they are so good dunked in the homemade marinara sauce.
Anyways, a night strolling along downtown Chandler with my friends and husband, we enjoyed displays of local artwork and the harmonious sounds of cover songs played just a few feet away by the band. Ben shuffled from booth to booth, while I followed along his side oohing over the craftsmanship of each artist. In particular, the work of Jillian Schimmel Ceramics stood out.
A potter by trade, Jillian was so kind and her pieces, quite lovely. Clay shaped into charming berry bowls, hand-fitted cups and cheerful citrus juicers – I was in heaven. Each piece is made solely by Jillian, then painted and glazed before entering a kiln for the final hurrah.
I picked up a couple of pieces for myself – a berry bowl and a cute prep bowl (I’ll share with you later). Make sure to check her out, and if you live in the Valley, Jillian can be found at the art walks in Chandler and Scottsdale.
