Happy St. Patrick’s Day my lovelies. I hope you all are wearing a bit of green and perhaps enjoying an emerald-colored beverage.
Also, I thought today would be a good time to share an easy housewarming gift. Something I love to do is give a potted herb because they last longer than traditional flowers, and you can eat them too. I picked up this basil plant from Lowe’s, along with a bag of potting soil and a mason jar. I lightly filled the bottom of the jar with potting soil, inserted the basil plant (shaking out the extra dirt to make sure it fit) and added enough water to moisten the soil. It’s super simple, and your friends and family will love it!
To care for the plant, keep the soil moist, but don’t overwater. Give the plant direct sunlight a few hours a day. The plant will flourish over a couple of weeks. To harvest the basil, use scissors to snip leaves from the top. While you’ll be tempted to cut the large leaves at the bottom, those are the plant’s life source, so you’ll want to keep them intact.
