Monsoon season is upon the Valley and it’s pretty exciting. I grew up in southeast Texas where 100% humidity and rain are the norm, so it’s comforting to know the smell of rain is only a week away (fingers crossed). Our pool won’t be too happy, and Ben and I are rushing around to ensure the water is steered away from our home once the stormy weather is here, but we welcome a break from the 118-degree weather and clearer skies.
I’m also excited to cook more meals at home – yippee! My pots and pans are ready to help create some good eats and just to get menu ideas rolling, here are some great recipes I found around the web that are perfect for a rainy day.
Fire-Roasted Tomato Bisque
Gruyére, Chèvre, Leek Confit and Pancetta Melt (Fancy Grilled Cheese)
Vietnamese Pho: Beef Noodle Soup
Chicken and Dumplings
Fig Relish and Ham Sandwiches
Spaghetti with Meatballs
Double-Dutch Mac and Cheese with Chard
Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice
Chicken Pot Pie with Biscuit Topping
Peanut-Pecan Butter and Oatmeal Cookies
What do you like to cook or bake up to help pass the storm?
