Seed Spot Beginnings

Last week I had the pleasure of attending the Seed Spot Kick Off Party which was a blast! The room was crowded with people excited to create a community of social entrepreneurs that will help grow new jobs, build Washington Row and best of all, bring us together to make the Valley into the local-supportive group we know is possible.

Courtney Klein Johnson and Chris Petroff, the founders of Seed Spot, were there to share their passion for our community and I must say, it was empowering. They introduced the Seed Spot full-time ventures that ranged anywhere from a person wanting to create a place for edible gardeners to exchange their foods to another individual creating bikes from bamboo to raise money to help the less fortunate. Amazing!

Also in attendance was Mayor Greg Stanton who I loved listening to. This man can sure fire up a crowd and boy does he exude happiness. He is definitely a supporter of this program and helping to create a stronger community.

It was also announced that Arizona teamed up with Startup America Partnership! CEO Scott Case was there to share the wonderful news and how Startup Arizona will help grow the economy in the Phoenix area. You can read more about them here.

Anyways, a phenomenal crowd indeed.

Of course, day 1 of the Community Program I’m in at Seed Spot began on Monday. We covered the business model canvas and it was exciting to take the first step in creating my business plan for my “food studio.” I keep on telling myself it’s not a dream anymore and to keep on track so if anything, at the end of the program I can finally create the business I’ve been dreaming of. It’s definitely an exciting time for me and I finally look forward to Monday nights when I can work toward my goal alongside others who are passionate about their projects as well.
