Celebrating Julia

Have you heard that Julia Child is turning 100?! August 15 to be exact which means her birthday falls the day right after mine. What a great month to be born in. Anyways, in celebration of Julia, I began a pin board of everything that encompasses her which includes recipes, videos, tributes and more.

There is also a worldwide celebration that invites everyone to cook something from Julia’s collection of recipes (twitter @JC100 and #CookForJulia) as well as a Julia Child Restaurant Week (click here for Phoenix listings). Of course I’m jumping right on to the cooking bandwagon and will be celebrating my 27th birthday with a little Julia and French inspiration. I’m thinking of making her fave Chocolate and Almond Cake which will be so delightful after a good meal. Because my birthday falls on a Tuesday, I’ll probably keep it simple with a little wine, cheese and French desserts. Coffee too if I fancy it. But you know me, I could get all crazy and go on a huge cooking spree. My movie list will include Amelie, Julie & Julia and maybe Chocolat…all “French” movies, but of course (my French accent is kicking in). If all goes well, my kitchen/dining area will be the perfect space for a rustic French celebration.

Julia – I look forward to celebrating our birthdays.
