Staycation: The Buttes

As you know, this past week we celebrated our 8-year anniversary and while I don’t typically blog a ton about our personal life, I seem to get a lot of great feedback from you that says you love getting to know more about the person behind the blog. Because of that, I will begin sharing more about us and just the same, I love learning more about you all, so please leave comments so we can chat. I definitely read them all! Maybe I will add a new section called “At Home” or something like that…feel free to shoot me some ideas.

Anyways, Ben surprised me with a staycation at The Buttes! It was so much fun I have to do a recap. (Please note that the photos were all taken with my iPhone and Instagram.) Before we headed there on Saturday, we stopped off at London Gold to replace some earrings he purchased for me as a gift. I know, you’re thinking how awful of me. But to be fair, did you know that earring posts are different sizes?! I do now. Unfortunately the posts on these cuties were way too big for my tiny ear piercings that I couldn’t even put them on. So we headed to the jewelry store and I replaced them with a pretty necklace from the ELLE collection. I love that it’s a very subtle pink and the stone is opaque. So pretty.

After a couple more stops, we finally made it to the resort. With a drink in hand poolside, we were ready to enjoy a day of fun in the sun.

Ben of course is super sporty so pool volleyball was right up his alley.

As the evening crept up on us, we headed out to dinner. I made sure to try and look extra pretty since we don’t get to dress up very much. Love this photo of us.

The Buttes overlooks the city and it must have known we were having a date night because the sky turned a beautiful cotton candy pink with shades of coral dancing throughout. Lovely.

I think the best part of the evening was dinner. Ben and I had such a great feast – maybe one of the best in a long time. It included a Cardinal Cooler, Shrimp & Crab Cakes over a Corn and Black Bean Pico de Gallo, Diver Scallops with Orzo Cakes & Lardons and a Dark Chocolate Bombe with a Chipotle Anglaise & Pepita Brittle. Not pictured is Ben’s delish steak with Sweet Potato Mash & Apple Demi-Glace. We were so full that I was surprised we could move.

It was a fabulous weekend indeed and I feel so special my hubby planned this wonderful stay for us. I secretly think he chose this place because the menu would be right up my alley. What a sweetie.
