Well, you may have noticed for a while I wasn’t blogging quite as much, but that’s because we’ve been busy working on our new home. So I should mention that I truly don’t know when I will be posting the next part of our home “tour,” but I’m so excited to show you what we’ve done so far.
This is the half of our yard that is officially completed. It used to be tons of dirt buried with gravel, but now it’s beautiful grass outlined with pretty plants.
We opted for hibiscus flowers since they grow quite well in the desert.
In addition, we planted an herb garden around our mesquite tree. This will be perfect for all the cooking I’ll be doing.
In our garden, you’ll find Italian parsley, basil and cilantro. Yum! Let’s hope they survive the super hot summer. If they make it and I build “green thumb” confidence, I will tackle vegetables and fruits next. Fingers crossed for lively herbs.
Of course, Buster is loving the new house and tires himself out everyday by running and playing with…
…Halo. She’s enjoying basking in the sun after a nice swim in the pool.
Now let’s head inside. Here is our fireplace that has a new mantle installed to make the perfect platform for family photos and pretty things like vases for flowers.
We included our papasan in the corner with colorful pillows. I think it looks quite lovely underneath the sunshine trickling through the curtains. A perfect reading spot. (I love how Halo is tuckered out again from her swim…silly pup.)
We chose coral as our pop of color. How can you not love that orangy pink?
With a few more decorative items including a pretty print and elephant from India as well as a cute housewarming cactus from my friend, the mantle is pretty much complete.
We also have a small dining nook right off of the living room. The teal is such a warm and welcoming color – I love it!
To add a little something extra, we included a frame collage. As you can see, we are pending pictures, but they are coming soon. My fave parts are the “hello” sign and bird. So cute!
Finishing the nook is a simple piece of art to let you know what we expect when you come to our home. We can’t wait to host many meals in this room.
As we complete our home, I will be back to share more photos. Thanks for coming on the tour!

Gorgeous home!!
Thanks so much!
Loved getting a chance to see your new place last weekend! I can’t wait to see how you continue to decorate and make it yours.
