…just makes me happier.
Like everyone in the world, I’m always busy – even on the days that I’m supposed to be relaxing. What’s that about?! I should admit though that I don’t mind being busy. My only downfall is my good eating habits begin to decline little by little as my schedule gradually gets filled with appointments, commitments and whatever else pops up. So while I preach to my husband about eating healthier and at home, I want to make it a point to practice it more myself. So here’s a useful tip you and I can try.
A great way to remind yourself to eat better is to decorate your home with fresh fruits and veggies. First off, you’ll add a pop of color to your decor that won’t get old because you can change your produce to match the seasons. Secondly and most importantly, displaying fresh fruits and vegetables will make these healthy alternatives to chips and cookies easily accessible for those on the go. Make sure to wash and dry them before displaying so you don’t have to worry about doing that as you’re running out the door. You’ll begin to notice your family and you gravitating toward these treats without even thinking twice about the pantry and therefore providing yourselves with the proper nutrients to help keep you going on those extra busy days (or weeks).
I began implementing this idea in my home last week and love having an edible display that is absolutely simple and charming, such a good compliment to my home. I’m a veggie girl, so I don’t have problems remembering to get my fill for the day which means Ben does too. Unfortunately, fruit is where we drop the ball, but now we have a pretty trifle bowl filled with fruit, so we should be all set. And I was right! Both my hubby and I have eaten more fruit this week than we ever have.
What ideas do you have to help you eat healthier?
