For the next year or two (or even three…eek!), I am taking on a huge challenge. Can you guess what it is? You can try, but I won’t tell. 😉 The only clues I can give are that it is still food related (that’s why I’m blogging about it) and that I will be doing it for personal satisfaction. It should be an interesting task and truly rewarding if I am able to even complete it. Once the ball is rolling and I get closer to completion, I will definitely let you in on the secret.
Now, a lot of times I get feedback about how I don’t take time to relax and that I am the cause of my own stress, but my response is always the same; I do it because I enjoy the projects I set for myself. I am the type of person that will always have an endless list of projects, and for me, that’s okay. It gives me the time needed to get my mind off of work/everyday things and focus on something I truly enjoy. Yes, I may get stressed because of my own personal deadlines, but I like reaching my goals, and if that means a little more stress, so be it. I think everyone has personal goals they would like to reach; my goals just seem to range from simple to being quite complex.
So, how do I relax? Honestly, sometimes I just stop everything (for the exception of work and school). When I come to this screeching halt, I take the time to remember why I love doing all these things and then tell myself to chill. Then, with a bowl of popcorn, movie and the company of my fave people (my husband and pup…she might as well be a person), I finally relax. I don’t know what it is about this routine, but it seems to help.
What kind of projects are you working on and how do you cope with the stress of personal goals?
