Macarons…what a challenge?! The idea to make these came about when I was watching the movie Run Fat Boy Run. I know, doesn’t sound like a movie that would have anything to do with baked goods, but one of the characters had a cute bakery which displayed all these colorful sandwiched cookies that I absolutely thought were adorable and so whimsical. Like always, when I find something I like, it becomes my top priority and in this case, my mission was to find the perfect macaron recipe. Not really knowing much about them, I watched several YouTube videos and researched several recipes. Let’s just say my first attempt was not very good.
Too much almond flour! This made the cookie dense and not set/puff up like they are supposed too. What a waste?! I do have to say they did taste good, but not what I was looking for. We want light and melt in your mouth quality. This batch was definitely a thumbs down. (This was supposed to be a chocolate covered strawberry macaron. I did complete them, but was disappointed about the look.)
